Dr. Bernard Jin Coquitlam dentist Dr. Bernard Jin obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry in 1995. He received subsequent training in the General Practice Residency Program (an extensive multidisciplinary program) at Vancouver Hospital, BC Children's Hospital, and UBC Specialty Clinic where he received the Dr. S. Ioanidis Award for excellence during his internship. Dr. Jin is also one of a few select dentists in North America who trained at the California-based NobelInstitute™ (Nobel Biocare Implant Headquarters). Dr. Jin is the first dental surgeon in Canada to integrate the Nobel Active Implant system to the ALL-ON-4™ "Teeth-in-a-Day" procedure . He is also recognized as the first dentist in Western Canada to implement Dr. Joseph Choukroun's L-PRF (Leukocyte - Platelet Rich Fibrin) technique to facilitate predictable rapid tissue healing. Dr. Jin has since been practicing family and general dentistry while pursuing advanced dental studies in Oral Surgery, Implantology, Conscious & Moderate Sedation, Cosmetic Dentistry, and Orthodontics. He has completed numerous intensive postgraduate programs/courses and participates in study clubs locally and throughout North America to ensure that he is kept up-to-date on the latest research, techniques, and technology. Dr. Jin has a Masters in Clinical Orthodontics (Unversity of Alcala) and also serves as clinical instructor teaching advanced implant placement and tissue grafting techniques to fellow dentists. In the summer of 2009, Dr. Jin was awarded a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Dr. Jin has completed Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training, as well as Intravenous Sedation Training from both the UBC/VGH GP Residency program and the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry. He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Association of Dental Surgeons of BC, College of Dental Surgeons of BC, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, International Association for Orthodontics, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the Christian Medical & Dental Society. In addition to spending time with his wife and two children, Dr. Jin enjoys photography, playing guitar, and cruising on his motorcycle. |

Dr. Mouna Hachichou Coquitlam dentist Dr. Mouna Hachichou obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the First Medical University of Saint Petersburg, Russia in 1995. She was awarded a scholarship for research at the Department of Periodontics at the Justus Liebig University in Germany in 2000. She completed a one year General Practice Residency program at the University of Minnesota, where she was trained in hospital dentistry in 2001. She obtained the International Dental Degree Completion program at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Dentistry in 2004, and worked there as a General Practitioner until 2007. Dr. Hachichou continues to attend international dental conferences, and has furthered her expertise with ongoing continuing education courses in Endodontics, and Esthetic Dentistry. She is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Association of Dental Surgeons of BC, the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, and the Lebanese Dental Association. Dr. Hachichou is fluent in English, French, Arabic, Russian, and German. She enjoys riding her bicycle, cooking, and traveling. |

Dr. Kevin Lauwers Coquitlam dentist Dr. Kevin Lauwers graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Science. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the same alma mater in 2005 and received many distinguished awards in recognition of his leadership, scholarship, character, and humanity during his dental studies. Dr. Lauwers has been practicing family and general dentistry with Smiles Unlimited since 2005 while pursuing advanced dental studies in Cosmetic Dentistry, Endodontics, Pediatrics, and Oral Conscious Sedation. Volunteerism is a major part of Dr. Lauwers’ life. He serves as a regular volunteer dentist at the Downtown Eastside Walk-In Dental Clinic as well as a volunteer dentist at the Douglas College Community Clinic. Dr. Lauwers is a part-time faculty member at UBC and has also served as a volunteer member of the UBC Dental Admissions Board for the past 9 years. Dr. Lauwers has also been working closely with the Hope for Freedom Society and the Tri-Cities Homeless Task Force in establishing a “no-cost” volunteer community clinic in the Tri-City area. Dr. Lauwers is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Association of Dental Surgeons of BC, College of Dental Surgeons of BC, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, Omicron Kappa Upsilon (a National Dental Honor Society), and was recently selected for Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy (an International Honor Dental Organization). Dr. Lauwers is married and lives with his wife in Port Moody. He enjoys hiking with his wife and highlight trips include Golden Ears, Blask Tusk, and The West Coast Trail. Dr. Lauwers is a fitness enthusiast and has completed 9 marathons including the New York Marathon in 2011. With his wife, he recently travelled to Guatemala on a dental mission trip with an organization called “Kindness in Action”. |
